Learn Meditation ? Start Simple

Do you want to start to meditate and improve your physical and mental health and feel connected to your spirituality? There are a number of good reasons why to meditate, and when you begin to do meditation exercises every day, you will also start to feel some of the great benefits with meditation.

Why Practice Meditation

When you meditate regularly, you will start to feel less exhausted and more at peace. Small things that used to annoy you will no longer have that same affect on you, and you will be able to be calm and centered throughout the day.

Meditation is also able to lower your heart rate and blood pressure over time, and will teach you to just relax and quiet your mind.

Meditation helps you to concentrate and teaches you to focus for longer periods of time on only one object without being distracted.

Meditation also helps you in your spiritual work and makes it easier for you to receive guidance from your Higher Self and intuition.

Starting With Simple Exercises

So if you have decided that you want to start your practice but do not know where to start, you first need to figure out what you want to accomplish from your meditation work. So if your goal is to improve your health your focus will be very different than from those who wish to connect with their spirituality.

Despite of what your goal is, it is a fairly good idea to start with a basic breathing meditation, as this will be the base for about any type of meditation.

So start by doing the breathing meditation a couple of times to start with. You can follow this simple meditation

Breathing Meditation

Step 1

Find a quiet location to do your exercise. Find a comfortable meditation position and then take a minute to settle before you start.

Step 2

Close your eyes and take a deep cleansing inhalation to let go of stress and anxiety from your mind and body. Now continue to breathe deeply and visualize that you are inhaling a blue breeze of healing air that enters your abdomen and fills every part of your body, making it glow with positive energy. Now exhale the air and picture it as a dark tainted cloud of drained energy and tension leaving your body, making you feel a lot more relaxed.

Step 3

Continue to inhale the healing air and let it heal your body and make you feel serene and free of anxiety. If thoughts enter your mind, simply return your focus to your breath and continue with the meditation exercise.

Do this breathing meditation for as long as you want. If you are just starting your meditation practice, you probably want to start with only a couple minutes meditation as you will have to get used to sitting still and be in control of your mind for long periods of time.
