Delta rocket will launch Air Force communications satellite Thursday ...

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida -- A United Launch Alliance Delta IV rocket will launch an Air Force communications satellite Thursday from NASA's launch complex in Florida. The rocket was assembled at ULA's plant in Decatur, AL.

The communications satellite is part of a Wideband Global SATCOM network to improve communications for troops in the field. ULA says the network augments "more robust and flexible execution of Command and Control, Communications Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), as well as battle management and combat support information functions."

The 93-minute launch window opens at 6:38 p.m. CST.? A live webcast will be available on launch day on the ULA website.?
